Rural Placemaking Innovation Challenge Awarded for Columbia County Project

On November 16, 2022, the United States Department of Agriculture reported that they selected Hailstone Economic LLC as the recipient of a Rural Placemaking Innovation Challenge grant for a project in Columbia County. This was one of 19 awards across the country and the only one in Pennsylvania.

The funding will be used to create and implement a county-wide placemaking plan that focuses on four areas: 1) community and arts spaces; 2) housing; 3) open space and recreation; and 4) broadband. Community Strategies Group and Commonwealth University are major partners in this project.
